Veterans Guardian donated $1,200 to the Fayetteville Independent Light Infantry Company (F.I.L.I). The donation will not only be used to help maintain and preserve the (F.I.L.I) museum but to continue practices of an almost 230-year-old unit.
“We plan to provide continuous support to the museum to sustain this program,” said Scott Greenblatt, CEO, and Founder of Veterans Guardian. “The company is thrilled that we can donate to such a historic Infantry Company.”
About the Company
The Fayetteville Independent Light Infantry Company (F.I.L.I) was formed on the 23rd of August, 1793. The reason this organization was formed was fear that the Spanish in present-day Lousiana would encourage the Indians to attack. The construction of the U.S. arsenal in Fayetteville, 1838, increased the importance of the company.
During World War I, the Fayetteville Independent Light Infantry Company (F.I.L.I) served as Company F of the 119th Infantry Regiment, part of the Thirtieth Division.
About the Museum
The Fayetteville Independent Light Infantry Armory and Museum commemorates the heritage of the Fayetteville Independent Light Infantry Company (F.I.L.I.). The oldest Southern Military unit in existence, F.I.L.I. serves as the state’s official historic military command to this day.
The museum chronicles the history of the company through artifacts and memorabilia from the past to the present day. This includes the carriage that rode the Marquis de Lafayette during his visit to Fayetteville. The museum is located at 210 Burgess Street, Fayetteville, NC 28301.
